North Korea -> Panmunjom -> Armistice Halls Armistice Halls Panmunjom, Hwanghaenam-Do Province The Armistice Agreement Halls are located less than a mile/1 km. inside the northern edge of the DMZ in the town of Raebongjang in Koryo-dong, Kaesong municipality. The halls are approximately 5 mi./8 km. southeast of Kaesong and actually in the De-Militarized Zone (DMZ). One hall is where various talks in the Armistice process took place beginning in June, 1951, and the other hall is where the actual Armistice signing took place on July 27, 1953. The latter building was actually built in only five days by the North Korean side so the signing wouldn’t be done in a tent. |
