  Introduction: Pyongyang has the largest range of hotels of any city in North Korea. This range extends from the Deluxe Pyongyang Koryo and Yanggakdo Hotels through first-class, second-class and even third-class hotels. The third-class hotels are usually for international students. These categories are assigned by the North Korean government and do not necessarily represent normal international standards.
 
 
  Pyongyang Koryo Hotel:  
   
  The Pyongyang Koryo Hotel is fairly centrally located near the main Pyongyang railway station. Classified by the North Korean government as a deluxe hotel, it is a 45-story, twin-towered building built in 1985. It has more than 500 guest rooms, 5 restaurants, banquet facilities, shops, an amusement center, and even a swimming pool in the basement. There are revolving restaurants on the top of each tower.

  Yanggakdo Hotel:  
   
  The Yanggakdo Hotel is located on Yanggakdo "goat head" Island in the Taedong River. Classified by the North Korean government as a Deluxe hotel, it is a 47-story building completed in 1995. It has more than 500 guest rooms, restaurants, banquet facilities, shops, an amusement center, a bowling alley, and even a swimming pool in the basement. There is a revolving restaurant on the top of the hotel.
