The Pyongyang Maternity Hospital is a modern medical center for women completed in March, 1980. The complex consists of 6 buildings, the 13-story main building, plus five other sections, comprising over 646,000 sq. ft./60,000 sq. m. The facility has over 1,500 beds in more than 2,000 rooms.
There are departments of obstetrics, gynecology, ophthalmology, dentistry, ear, nose and throat, x-ray, physiotherapy, cardiography, and encephalography. Family members may see new mothers and their babies via closed circuit TV.
